How Can We Help?
Are game drives or activities included in my stay at Nyala Safari Lodge?
Yes. Twice-daily activities are automatically included in your stay for our Greater Kruger Safaris. These are group activities, and they usually head out at sunrise and in the late afternoon, when wildlife is most active.
Can I self-drive through the reserve?
No, you are unable to self-drive in private reserves.
What animals can be found at the Balule Nature Reserve?
Frequent visitors include a variety of birdlife, giraffes, elephants, impala, and the occasional predator. The Balule Nature Reserve is a Big 5 reserve, but plenty of other animals are regularly spotted. Species include zebra, warthog, spotted hyena, baboon, hippo, impala, kudu, vervet monkey, and waterbuck.
What are the check-in and check-out times?
Check-in time is at 13:30, and check-out time is at 11:00.
Does the camp have baths or showers in the rooms?
Every chalet has indoor and outdoor showers.
Is the camp family-friendly?
Children aged 12 and older are accepted. Can accommodate children younger than 12 on request.

Is Nyala located in a malaria area?
The Balule Nature Reserve region is a low-risk malaria area. It is best to consult your local doctor for advice. Generally, the type of medication needed for the Kruger area is Malarone, Doxycycline or Mefloquine. Mosquitos are more prevalent in the wet, warmer season. Mosquito repellent and creams are also great preventative measures.
Does Sun Destinations operate as a tour operator or a booking platform?
We’re neither a traditional tour operator nor a simple booking platform. Sun Destinations is a marketing and representation company that acts on behalf of each property as a centralised reservations office. We work closely with travel agents, DMC’s and our direct guests to make booking easy and transparent.
How do I book a safari with Sun Destinations?
Booking is simple. You can enquire directly through our website, via email at reservations@sundestinations.co.za, or through your preferred travel agent. Our Reservations team will guide you through availability, booking suggestions, itinerary creation, and any special requests to ensure your safari experience is tailored to you.

Absolutely. Many travellers choose to combine different properties within our Collection to experience contrasting landscapes, unique properties and different safari styles.
